Mazda3 Retains Its Affordable Starting Price for 2027

The Mazda3 remains one of the more affordable new cars available in the United States, and it happens to be one of the more enjoyable compact cars to drive, too. It’s a reasonable case for buyers who want something more engaging than an ordinary commuter car without spending too much.

Mazda intends to keep that formula intact for the 2027 model year. The Mazda3 Sedan starts at $24,750, representing a modest $100 increase over its 2026 equivalent. The Hatchback, meanwhile, now starts at $27,040, though Mazda has dropped the entry-level 2.5 S hatchback from the lineup.

What’s New for the 2027 Mazda3?

The biggest changes involve equipment and connectivity rather than mechanical upgrades. Mazda expands wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto availability, with Alexa Built-In also included on the Select Sport. Wireless phone charging becomes part of the Preferred package.

The familiar naturally aspirated 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder remains standard on most trims, producing 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive handle the entry-level configurations.

For enthusiasts, the six-speed manual transmission survives in the new Premium Plus Hatchback. This front-wheel-drive configuration starts at $31,950. Buyers can also get the Premium Plus with all-wheel drive for $33,350.

Those wanting more performance can still choose the Turbo Premium Plus. Its turbocharged 2.5-liter engine produces up to 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque when running on 93-octane fuel. It also comes exclusively with Mazda’s i-Activ AWD system.

The Turbo Premium Plus receives additional equipment, including a 360-degree view monitor, front and rear parking sensors, and enhanced driver-assistance features.

When Will the 2027 Mazda3 Arrive?

Mazda didn’t mention when the MY2027 Mazda3 will arrive at dealerships, but we’re expecting them in the next few weeks. Several exterior colors are still available, including Machine Gray Metallic, Soul Red Crystal Metallic, Snowflake White Pearl Mica, Polymetal Gray Metallic, and Ceramic Metallic. Each of these premium paint finishes costs an additional $595.

Of note, destination charges didn’t increase for the 2027 model year, still at $1,315 for most US states. Taxes, title and other applicable fees are also extra, while individual dealers determine actual transaction prices.
